We undertake five major productions each year and a number of other events slotted into our programme as time and availability permits Our productions are chosen carefully to provide a balanced season with 'something for everyone'. We believe that the plays we present are, at least, 'good of their type'. Each runs for six nights and usually plays to audiences of around 90%
We also have an active choral section that regularly produces musical productions. Add to this a members poetry evening or two, play-readings and you can see that we're a very busy society. With such a full programme of events we need every bit of help we can get. There's plenty of opportunity for you to be part of this happy society.
Today the society is numerically strong, having around one hundred full and one hundred and fifty associate members. But numbers are perhaps a little misleading. Not all our full members are actors, and since all amateurs have other commitments, it's not always easy to select a full cast and crew for some of the plays which we'd like to present.
That's where you come in. We'd love to see more local people becoming involved with our theatre. You do not need to be experienced or have tried and tested talent. Just come along and have a go. It's enormous fun.
Enjoy the teamwork in whatever direction your talents take you. You may be interested in any, or all, of the following:
Artistic: Set-building, set painting, costume, make-up and props.
Technical: Lighting and sound.
Performing: Acting.
Production: Producing, directing and stage management.
Administration: Finance, front-of-house and publicity.
